{"id":7,"date":"2007-10-07T14:14:32","date_gmt":"2007-10-07T21:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/makingsnow.net\/blog\/?page_id=8"},"modified":"2017-07-16T20:39:15","modified_gmt":"2017-07-16T20:39:15","slug":"sign-language","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/?page_id=7","title":{"rendered":"natural sign language"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>spring 2007- ongoing<\/p>\n<p><em>a collection of sign language discovered and documented<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"the natural sign language of focus\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/nsl-of-focus.mov\">the natural sign language of focus<\/a><br \/>\nexplanatory text from the video:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>locating the multiple open topics and ideas flying around during a focus-challenged conversation<\/li>\n<li>putting focus on an idea (direct point and &#8220;drawing attention&#8221; point techniques)<\/li>\n<li>focus (individual and collaborative)<\/li>\n<li>increasing focus (focus logarithmically increased four times)<\/li>\n<li>sprinklation (as applied to focus); boosts the potential focus-ability of another idea and connects it with the initial focus target; this is possible no matter how seemingly disparate the ideas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/nsl-pushing-the-realm-of-possibilites.mov\">pushing the realm of possibilites<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>also useful as a sensational, janet jackson-like dance move<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"mental strength in the mind\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/nsl-mental-strength-in-the-mind.mov\">mental strength in the mind<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>according to some, it&#8217;s what we need<\/li>\n<li>note the use of the finger (often representing an idea) reinforced by the enthusiastic and strong forward movement of the arm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/nsl-tighten-it-up.mov\">tighten-it-up<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>if things are scattered and you want to bring things together, you just <em>tighten it up<\/em><\/li>\n<li>the addition of this sign represents yet another natural sign language discovery relating to the idea of focusing, which can also be interpreted as paying attention to the present moment.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">paying attention (and delighting in) the present moment is the motivation behind this project. therefore, the project contains naturally occurring microcosms of itself.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"check this out (check out this idea)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/nsl-check-this-out.mov\">check this out (check out this idea)<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>i am noticing that many signs are simultaneous collaborations. here is one example.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"idea\/ big idea\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/nsl-idea-and-big-idea.mov\">idea\/ big idea<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"preparing the eyes for see-it-to-believe-it experience\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/nsl-preparing-eyes-for-seeittobelieveit.mov\">preparing the eyes for a see-it-to-believe-it experience<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/nsl-pen1.mov\">pen<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>During the throes of inspiration, my friend leaned forward, said &#8220;do you have a..?&#8221;, and started waving his arm, making wild, tiny zig zags in the air. It was delightful to witness his body taking over the rest of the sentence. Here is a demonstration of the movement which so clearly communicated &#8220;pen&#8221; at the time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"erase that\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/nsl-erase-that.mov\">erase that<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"taking in a complex idea (complex idea, tell me, little bit, all of the idea)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/taking-in-a-complex-idea.mov\">taking in a complex idea (complex idea, tell me, little bit, all of the idea)<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>note the simultaneous display of multiple fingers (each representing one idea) indicating a complex or multifaceted idea.<\/li>\n<li>note the circle (signifying <em>all<\/em> or <em>whole<\/em>) is drawn with one finger (one idea)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"mental processing capacity attained\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/nsl-mental-processing-capacity-attained.mov\">mental processing capacity attained<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"concentrate\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/nsl-concentrate.mov\">concentrate<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"cover for the real thing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.christiehudson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/nsl-cover-for-the-real-thing.mov\">cover for the real thing<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As in, &#8220;I&#8217;m not fooled.
